Kiara Benn

Kiara Benn is a movement artist and producer pursuing a career in creative direction. Kiara has produced three choreographic pieces: Will You Reminisce For Me?, tempo take me…, and excuse me while I take up space. Her artistry often asks, how does music serve as a portal to privately experienced memories and trigger our bodies to move in ways that reference the past?

Kiara was a Project Manager at For Freedoms, an artist-led organization working to increase civic engagement and advocate for artists as public leaders. Currently, she acts as a Project Coordinator on select projects for For Freedoms like Hear Her Here, an exploration of Black femme visions and voices through a series of murals, programs, and salons celebrating creativity, conversation, and community in Los Angeles, in collaboration with Converse. More recently, Kiara has acted as Choreographer and Dancer in the Pulitzer-winning opera production of Omar. This production has been showcased at venues such as Spoleto Festival USA, Los Angeles Opera, Carolina Performing Arts, and Boston Lyric Opera. Kiara’s contribution to Omar led her to join the team of Kaneza Schaal, the director of the opera, as a Creative Associate.
