Work-in-Progress Choreography Showings
Make a Reservation
just for (you) takes us on a transformative journey through a personal movement diary. Born during the isolating depths of the pandemic, these choreographic phrases emerge as grounded, conscious, and present reflections of a particular moment in time. Initially created as honest check-ins, filmed, and then forgotten, these segments now resemble intimate diary entries, capturing fleeting glimpses of the dancer’s inner world. By revisiting these entries, the choreographer delves into the essence of ephemeral choreography.
The piece seeks to construct a space that triggers a dream-like and transient ambiance, and asks: how can dance avoid being shared in the same way? How can it avoid being received in the same way? How can it remain personal and private to the dancer dancing? How does it center the reflection of the mover?
Dancers are invited to interact with the entries and contribute their own thoughts, thereby crafting a collective diary. Viewers attending showings will also have the chance to participate in a reflective journey. The carefully curated positioning of viewers within the performance space ensures that the choreography flows in and out of their field of vision. During moments of obscured movement, viewers are prompted to employ their other senses and delve into introspection. This pause invites them to reflect on the emotions and sensations evoked by the performance, fostering a personal connection.
