A Staged Reading with VR based on the 1919 Polish avant-garde play Pragmatists by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz

The Door, a drop-in youth development and social services center located on Broome Street, has an open residency at The Performing Garage. This Friday, The Door has invited the young performers from Drama Club to conduct an evening of improvised scenes. Drama Club is an innovative non-profit organization that provides theater programming and positive mentorship to incarcerated and court-involved young people in New York City.

What happened when Miron Białoszewski, one of the most singular poets of the 20th century — though little known in the U.S. partly because of the impossibility of translating his work — received a visit from America’s favorite guru-activist-poet, Allen Ginsberg?

Białoszewski/Ginsberg explores possible stories, counterfactual narratives and alternative realities through the use of performance art, VR technology, and mockumentary film.

A real-time, multiplayer, VR theater performance based on texts by Tadeusz Miciński that combines Gear VR, HTC Vive, actors’ performances, choreography, and live music from a VR application to achieve an immersive theater experience. Here the process of being immersed in VR is not about taking the viewers to another world. Its aim is to create an experience shared with all the viewers, although felt in a private, individual way at the same time.

An AR performance in which the “spectactor” meets and collaborates with Leron Miszek — an avatar (live/real-time 3D scan) of Miron Białoszewski — to create his/her own piece of ephemeral, playful word poetry. The piece is performed using Microsoft hololens glasses which the “user” wears while communicating with Leron Miszek through an intercom set-up.

A VR installation inspired by Raymond Roussel′s novel of the same title. It is a dream world, inhabited by numerous cerebral clones. Their shepherd, Martial Canterel – artist and academic – will guide you through our program that will lead to the transformation of your cerebral clone into an eternal life form during a 20-minute narrative, interactive contemporary art experience.
