The Summer Institute is back at The Performing Garage! Come to this year’s performances on July 23-25.

Marisas is a performance conceived and written by Amelia Saul for actors Marisa Viola and Eleanor Hutchins, and featuring musician Jeanie-Aprille Tang.

To be an artist is to mourn your life – and this is pleasurable. At what point have I emerged? Is emerging to be born? In this show I consider how becoming an artist is to become materialized.

Choreographer and director Faye Driscoll will be in residence at The Performing Garage starting this March. She and her company will be developing the second iteration in her series of works called Thank You For Coming.

Saxophone is based on close to 50 hours of interviews with saxophonist Bob Feldman.
It traces the path of this Bronx-born New Yorker who played with Mingus, worked with Salinger, found and lost love, peace and music many times over—all to become a saxophone player.

While in residence at The Performing Garage, Karen Finley is developing WRITTEN IN SAND, a performance that revisits her works on the AIDS crisis written between 1983 and 1994.
